Turn Your next Autumn Walk into a Learning Adventure!

Autumn is the perfect time to wrap up warm, head outdoors and discover the wonderful changes happening in nature. From colourful fallen leaves to interesting shapes and textures, there is so much for little explorers to discover right on their doorstep!

Let’s Make a Nature Bracelet

Wrap a piece of sticky tape loosely around your child’s wrist, sticky side facing out, and head outdoors!

Encourage your little explorer to collect fallen leaves, petals and other natural treasures, sticking them onto their bracelet as they go. Remember to collect only fallen natural materials, avoiding unknown berries, fungi and plants that might irritate skin.

Make every discovery a learning opportunity!

Colours and counting: How many different coloured leaves can you find? Can you count how many you’ve collected?

Shapes and patterns: Compare leaves of different shapes and sizes. Can you spot any patterns or lines?

Sensory discovery: Which leaves feel smooth, rough or bumpy? How are they different?

Understanding nature: Why do leaves change colour and fall from trees? What happens to plants as the weather gets colder?

Through exploring their surroundings, children develop observation, comparison and early math’s skills while discovering how nature changes with the seasons.

This simple activity also encourages curiosity, builds environmental awareness, and helps children develop a connection with the natural world.

So, wrap up warm, get exploring and see how much you can learn from nature!
